Why I chose the name Comitari and not just Karen L. Ketelaar.
When I moved to France in 2014, I felt that I needed a new name for my practice and activities.
So, I looked for a word that would cover the languages I worked in:
English, German, Dutch and French.
It took me a while. In France you could not just use any name, especially no foreign names nobody could understand.
And I wanted to honour the country I had chosen as home and not just pick a random English or popular name.
Because I also had the privilege of seven years Latin at school and Latin was a very important language for my medical and botanical work.
So finally I chose a word that encompassed what I felt as my work, my mission and my passion:
I accompany people. And this I extend to everybody, from all works of life, from stuck to flow, from pain to joy.
Here are the translations of the accompaniment in the respective languages
Comitari (Latin)
-> be accompanied by so. (E)
-> be supported by (E)
->jmdm. begleitet werden (G)
-> jmd. begleiten (G)
-> être accompagné de (F)
-> être accompagné par (F)
-> begeleid worden door (N)
Et voilá ! Here we are!
I am very happy with this beautiful name and hope that you like it, too!
